PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit for hybrid vehicles making it possible to improve drivability dependent on whether an engine is operated.SOLUTION: A first driving state in which an engine 12 is stopped and a second motor generator MG2 solely generates a running drive force using electricity fed from an electrical storage device 60, and a second driving state in which a first motor generator MG1 generates electricity with power of the engine 12 and the second motor generator MG2 solely generates the running drive force using at least the generated electricity are selectively established. In the second driving state, since the running drive force larger than that in the first driving state is generated for the same accelerator manipulation quantity &thetas;, running exactly like an impression which a driver deduces from an operating noise or the like of the engine 12 can be realized.
