摘要 615,202. Mixing and kneading machines. BATA NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 6, 1946, No. 23289. Convention date, Sept. 1, 1942. [Class 86] In a machine for the treament of plastic materials, particularly of natural or artificial rubber, comprising a kneading chamber and a mixing mill, the kneader and mixing mill rollers are arranged so that the mixing mill roller adjacent to the kneading chamber forms, together with a wedge slide, the closure of the kneading chamber. The plastic raw material is fed into the kneading chamber 2, Fig. 1, through an opening 3 and additional substances may be added through an opening 4. The kneaded material is discharged from the kneading chamber directly into a mixing mill comprising rollers 8, 12, adjustably spaced by screws 15, through an opening normally closed by the roller 8 and a wedge slide 9. The latter carries a detachable scraper blade 10 for removing material from the roller 8 during the kneading operation. The size of the discharge opening can be altered by adjustment of the slide 9; and during milling the material is retained in the milling space by a scraper blade 18 and wedges 16. The kneading roller 6, Fig. 2, has a part formed with helical ribs 26 for compressing and feeding. The plastic material is supplied through the opening 3, and a part formed with helical ribs 25 which at some places do not extend to the walls of the chamber 2 and which knead and mix the plastic material and anv additional substances fed through the opening 4. A cooling fluid is passed between ribs 5 on the casing 2 for removing the heat developed during kneading. In an alternative construction. two parallel kneading rollers are provided in a chamber having a single charging opening, the whole surface of each kneading roller being provided with kneading and mixing ribs similar to the ribs 25. 615,203. Recovering metals from scrap. INTERNATIONAL ALLOYS, Ltd., and BACON, F. G. Aug. 6, 1946, No. 23291. [Class 82(i)] [Also in Group XII] The components of mixed scrap metals, particularly aircraft scrap, are separated in a furnace comprising an upper hearth 1 fed from a charging platform 8 by conveyers 9 and connected to a lower hearth 3 by a vertical shaft 2, burners (not shown) opening into the furnace just above the lower hearth, and controlled draught flues 4. The upper hearth is traversed by channels 14 for the collection of low melting point metals and has raking doors 10 from which the material can be moved into the shaft 2. Impact on the hearth 3 separates aluminium which is melted and collected in the discharge spout 13, the metals of higher melting point being removed through raking doors. The upper melting hearth may have a lining of corrugated cast iron with holes feeding the channels 14.
