The needle unit (1) in the multi-needle sewing machine is formed by an assembly of a number of needles in a row, with a needle (2) for each holder (20), secured (27) to the needle bed (4) in the position taken by sliding each holder parallel to the needle bed. The presser foot unit has a number of presser feet (6), each secured to a holder (31) which can slide parallel to the line of needles (2) and be fixed (43,44) in place. The needle plate unit has a number of needle plates, which can also slide parallel to the needles (2) and be fixed in place. Similarly, the separate fabric advance units (10) and the loopers (12) can be positioned by sliding them parallel to the needles (2) and locked.
