An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to light up plural blocks of an LED(Light Emitting Diode) backlight sequentially and solely or simultaneously. An LED backlight(2) makes LEDs as blocks to correspond to the scan direction of an LCD panel(1). The LED backlight comprises plural LED blocks lightened by the scan driving signal of a driver circuit. A control member controls that each LED block of the LED backlight is lightened up solely and sequentially or plural LED blocks are lightened up simultaneously. The control member includes a timing control circuit for outputting a control signal for lighting up each LED block of the LED back light. Odd number switching devices(3) are installed sequentially between the LED blocks. Even number switching devices are installed sequentially between the LED blocks. An inverter supplies the conversion signal of each control to the odd number switching devices. |
