A surgical imaging device, comprising: at least one light source for illuminating an object; a disposable loading unit (DLU) portion including a first image sensor; an anvil portion including a second image sensor and a bore extending through the anvil portion, the anvil portion movable relative to the DLU portion, wherein the bore enables images to be received by the first and second image sensors without removing the surgical imaging device from a surgical site; each image sensor configured to generate image data corresponding to the object in the form of an image frame, each image frame partially overlapping with at least one other image frame, each of the image sensors corresponding to a different point of view with respect to the object; and a video processor configured to receive simultaneously from each image sensor the image data corresponding to the image frames and to process the image data by combining the image frames to generate a composite image from the combined image frames, each image frame corresponding to a sub-portion of the composite image, wherein the first and second image sensors are positioned opposite from one another such that the composite image is generated therebetween and each opposing image sensor is angled towards its respective point of view to generate the composite image between the first and second opposed image sensors. |
