PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a target position from being lost sight of on the map by facilitating to recognize a change in the scale when changing over a scale of a displayed map. SOLUTION: This map display device is provided with an information storage means 3 for storing a map data, an input means 1 for inputting a display position of the map and a scale to be displayed, a control means 4 for reading the map data stored in the information storage means 3 based on the display position inputted from the input means 1 and the scale to be displayed, and a display means 6 for displaying the map plotting the map data, and the control means 4 controls to display the map by setting a prescribed area on the map display screen when it is requested to change the scale, and changing it over to a requested scale, and then changing over the scale of the area outside the prescribed area to the requested scale from the one before requested. |
