The method involves heating a storage product in a pesticide tank (12) by a solid storage medium e.g. solid salt, for releasing reducing agent i.e. ammonia. A heating pipe (30), which connects the tank to a proportioning unit (22), is heated to transform any liquid water present in the heating pipe into vapor when the product is heated in the tank by the solid support to release the reducing agent from it. The heating process of the heating pipe is controlled at temperature in the tank and intervened when the temperature in the tank is within a certain range. An independent claim is also included for a reducing agent supply system for treating nitrogen oxides in an exhaust line of a car.
