PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the influence on durability by surly retreating an upper knife to down below a needle plate with a configuration simpler than before, and controlling a member linking with a sewing machine main shaft while blocking the link between the upper knife and the sewing machine main shaft during retreat.SOLUTION: An overlock sewing machine includes: an upper knife movable to a retreat position below a needle plate or to a drive position above the retreat position; an upper knife drive part for moving up and down the upper knife; a link switch part for switching between a link state in which the upper knife drive part is linked with the upper knife and a cancel state in which the link between the upper knife drive part and the upper knife is cancelled; an upper knife position switch part for switching an arranged position of the upper knife to the drive position or to the retreat position; and an operation part for simultaneously driving the link switch part and the upper knife position switch part so as to bring the link switch part into the link state when an arrange position of the upper knife is switched to the drive position by the upper knife switch part and so as to bring the link switch part into the cancel state when an arrange position of the upper knife is switched to the retreat position by the upper knife switch part. |
