The method involves measuring a temperature of a sub-volume (3), a temperature outside of a building (1), and a temperature of an volume of envelope (4), and an amount of power consumed by a heating/air-conditioning unit (9) under measurement conditions and using measurement devices (10). The temperatures are measured to maintain the sub-volume at a setpoint temperature. A heat transfer coefficient between the sub-volume and the outside of the building is calculated using a formula, for a measurement period or a sub-period of the measurement period. The formula includes heat transfer coefficient between the sub-volume and the outside of the building in watt/ Kelvin, amount of power consumed in the sub-volume for a preset duration of time, energy efficiency of the heating/air-conditioning unit, and the setpoint temperature and temperature outside the building in Kelvin. An independent claim is also included for a system for measuring heat transfer coefficient between a sub-volume of a room of a building or a building assembly, and outside volume of the building. |
