The invention relates to a process for the preparation of internal monoolefins having of from 20 to 28 carbon atoms, comprising: providing internal monoolefins having of from 10 to 19 carbon atoms; passing a stream comprising the internal monoolefins having of from 10 to 19 carbon atoms to a disproportionation zone; operating the disproportionation zone at disproportionation conditions sufficient to disproportionate monoolefins; and recovering from the disproportionation zone a stream comprising internal monoolefins having of from 20 to 28 carbon atoms.
