The present invention relates to an air conditioner for a vehicle, comprising: a skin and eyes protection button, which is used to prevent the skin and the eyes from drying; a mode door, which is installed in the entrance of an air discharge vent of the air conditioner and opens and closes the relevant vent depending on an air conditioning discharge mode; a control unit, which minimizes the volume of air discharged towards the skin and the eyes when the skin and eyes protection button is on and controls the mode door so that the skin and eyes protection mode is operated for preventing the skin and the eyes from drying. According to the present invention, the direction and volume of the air of the air conditioner can be properly controlled for protecting the skin and eyes of a passenger and the convenience and satisfaction of the passenger are improved.
