The purpose of the present invention is to provide a continuously variable transmission using a torque converter, wherein the transmission generates output by interlocking gears as soon as a power source is activated and therefore can prevent power loss at low RPMs, and automatically changes gears in a dynamic way based on the driving condition or resistance of a vehicle at high RPMs, thereby capable of improving the output and performance of the vehicle. The continuously variable transmission using a torque converter according to the present invention comprises the following parts: a housing; an input shaft which is supported to be rotated at the housing; a fixed shaft which is fixed to the housing and arranged on the same rotational axis as the input shaft; a planet gear assembly which is composed of a sun gear, multiple planet gears, a carrier, and a ring gear, and where the sun gear is fixed to the input shaft and the carrier is supported to be rotated at the fixed shaft; a torque converter which is composed of a turbine, an impeller, and a lockup clutch, and where the turbine is supported to be rotated at the fixed shaft and fixed to the carrier of the planet gear assembly; an output gear which is supported to be rotated at the fixed shaft; a connection shaft which is supported to be rotated at the housing, and equipped with a first connection gear which is interlocked with the ring gear of the planet gear assembly, a second connection gear which is interlocked with the impeller of the torque converter, and a third connection gear which is interlocked with the output gear; an output shaft which is fixed at the rotational center of the output gear and supported to be rotated at the fixed shaft; and a forward/backward unidirectional rotation unit which converts the rotational direction of the carrier of the planet gear assembly into the forward direction or the backward direction, and allows only unidirectional rotation. |
