PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical discharge machining method of polycrystalline diamond capable of efficiently machining a workpiece by optimally controlling an amount of conductive films deposited on a surface of the workpiece.SOLUTION: In an electrical discharge machining method of polycrystalline diamond, a workpiece is subjected to the electrical discharge machining while applying a voltage in which a polarity is alternately reversed between a workpiece 1 and a machining tool electrode 2. As for the voltage to be applied between the workpiece 1 and the tool electrode 2, pulses of different waveforms are used between a case of a positive polarity where a voltage of the positive polarity is impressed to the workpiece 1, and a case of a reverse polarity where a voltage of positive polarity is applied to the tool electrode 2. More specifically, a pulse discharge duration in the case of the positive polarity is set to be short, while a pulse discharge duration in the case of the reverse polarity is set to be long, and the quiescent time is set to be short to improve a machining efficiency. |
