PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating type breakwater structured to be sunk to the seabed when it is calm and to float to the surface when required to resist the intrusion of tsunami and giving equivalent resistance to both anaseism and backwash of the tsunami. SOLUTION: The floating type breakwater includes two bar-like floating bodies 1 arranged substantially in parallel; a breakwater plate 2 disposed between both bar-like floating bodies 1; and a hanging screen body 3 with one end mounted to the lower face of the breakwater plate 2.
