Improvements in emulsifying apparatus

In emulsifying-apparatus particularly for domestic use the materials to be emulsified are forced through a slot or hole closed by a valve in the form of a reed which may be formed by punching a tonque in a metal plate or by securing a piece of springy metal over the slot or hole. As shown a cylinder 1, Fig. 1, has screwed to it at the top a cup 2 and is screwed into a foot-piece 3. A piston 4, having external grooves 7 to prevent leakage, is connected by a ball-and-socket joint 9 and a connecting-rod 8 to a stirrup 11 secured to a lever 12. The piston has a central bore 5 with a lateral port 6 for transfer of materials from cup to cylinder at the end of the upstroke. The lever 12 has a handle 13 and is connected by a detachable pin 14 to a bracket 15 on the cylinder 1. The foot-piece 3 has a right-angle passage 17 enlarged at each end to receive the cylinder and a washer 16, and the valve disc 18 and a flanged delivery pipe 20 secured by a nut 19 respectively. The disc 18, Fig. 3, is of stainless steel, or nickel-silver alloy and has punched therein a reed valve 22. The disc and the washer 16 may be interchanged.
