A method for prediction of progress of affection of kidney in patients with diabetic nephropathy with concomitant obesity includes determination of the level of &bgr;2-microglobulin in blood serum and urine in patients with initial stages of diabetic nephropathy and patients with chronic renal insufficiency of I st. under conditions of hyper- and normo-filtration.
