An organic EL display apparatus (1) is provided with: an organic EL element (4), which is formed on an insulating substrate (2), and which is provided between the insulating substrate (2) and an insulating substrate (9); a sealing material (15), which is provided in a frame region (F), and which is sandwiched between the insulating substrate (2) and the insulating substrate (9) to bond the insulating substrates (2, 9) to each other; and a wall member (17), which is provided in the frame region (F) by being adjacent to the outer surface (15a) side of the sealing material (15), and which forms steps (15b, 15c) on the sealing material (15) so as to make the height (T1) of the outer surface (15a) side of the sealing material (15) small.
