The plate (10) has a plate core (12) with a retaining recess (18), in which a controllable illuminant (20) i.e. LED, of a light device (22) is received. An upper cover layer (14) i.e. veneer, partially covers the plate core. The cover layer is translucently designed in a region (32) of the illuminant. A partial transparent structure element (24) is arranged in the recess between the illuminant and the cover layer. The structure element flushingly terminates with a side (26) of the plate core, where the side faces towards the cover layer. The structure element is made of polycarbonate. An independent claim is also included for a table.
