An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) capable of controlling a viewing angle and a driving method thereof are provided to control light blocking/transmission and viewing angle characteristics within a range of reducing costs and control wide/narrow viewing angle modes without distortion of colors by applying a passive barrier to an LC panel and efficiently controlling a signal applied to the LC panel. In an LC panel(110), plural color pixels are arranged in matrix. A barrier(120) is disposed in an upper part of the LC panel, and comprises a slit unit(122) and a blocking unit(121). The slit unit transmits light by being located in an upper part of a reference pixel(P2) based on a left pixel(P1), the reference pixel and a right pixel(P3) adjacent to each other among the plural color pixels. The blocking unit is disposed in an upper part of the left and right pixels and blocks light. A backlight assembly(130) is disposed in a lower part of the LC panel, and supplies light to the LC panel. |
