PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of suppressing vibration during image reading to reduce distortion of a read image.SOLUTION: An image reading device 2 includes: a flat tabular document mounting glass 43; a document reading glass 42 that is arranged separated from the document mounting glass 43 in a sub scanning direction X; a scanning body SU that is arranged in a row along a bottom surface 43a of the document mounting glass 43; and a slide member 100 that is engaged with the scanning body SU to contact the document mounting glass 43 and the document reading glass 42. The bottom surface 43a of the document mounting glass 43 is arranged flush with a bottom surface 42a of the document reading glass 42; and the slide member 100 has a flat surface 101b that contacts each of the bottom surfaces (bottom surface 42a or bottom surface 43a) formed thereon. The flat surface 101b is formed to have the width in the sub scanning direction X larger than a distance between the ends of the document reading glass 42 and the document mounting glass 43 that face with each other.
