PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective sleeve for balloon catheters that can selectively perform the protection and the exposure of the balloon of a balloon catheter.SOLUTION: A balloon-housing tube 12 of a protective sleeve 2 for balloon catheters is changed from a restricted state in which the movement of a balloon 4 housed in the balloon-housing tube 12 to the outside of the balloon-housing tube 12 is restricted due to inhibition of the expansion of the distal end of the balloon-housing tube by an outer frame member 14 to an open state in which the balloon 4 housed in the balloon-housing tube 12 is movable to the outside of the balloon-housing tube 12 by the expansion of the distal end of the balloon-housing tube 12 due to cutting of the outer frame member 14 caused by heating an electrically heated wire 18.
