PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion device able to restrict degradation of scintillation, resulting from moisture absorption of a light diffusion layer.SOLUTION: A light diffusion device 3 comprises: a light diffusion layer 11 having a plurality of minute capsules 12 containing therein a plurality of charged diffusion particles 16 for diffusing incident light and dispersion medium 17 for dispersing the plurality of diffusion particles 16, and a support sheet 13 supporting the minute capsules 12; a first electrode 21 disposed outside the support sheet 13; a second electrode 22 arranged outside the minute capsule layer 15; a third electrode 23 disposed between the support sheet 13 and the minute capsule layer 15; a light diffusion layer drive section 31 configured to apply a drive voltage, which invert a polarity, between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22; and a resistance section 32 connected between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 23.
