PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic photographing apparatus that improves focus synchronization accuracy on a kinetic side and a static side.SOLUTION: A photographing system that photographs by driving a first focus mechanism of a first photographing apparatus and a second focusing mechanism of a second photographing apparatus comprises: first focus detecting means configured to detect a first focus evaluation value from a video signal of the first photographing apparatus; second focus detecting means configured to detect a second focus evaluation value from a video signal of the second photographing apparatus; first and second driving means configured to drive the first and second focus mechanisms respectively; and control means configured to control the drive of the first and second drive means. The control means are able to drive the first drive means and second drive means in a position follow mode in which the first and second driving means are driven based on the first focus evaluation value, and in an evaluation value follow mode in which the first driving means and the second driving means are driven such that the second focus evaluation value follows the first focus evaluation value.
