PURPOSE: A power generating apparatus using a cooling tower is provided to generate electricity using the unused small hydropower resources of the cooling tower by adding simple components like a water turbine, a generator, and others. CONSTITUTION: A power generating apparatus comprises a cooling tower (110), a water turbine (130), and a generator. The cooling tower comprises a housing (111), a cooling water spraying pipe (115), a water tank (120), and a cooling water drain pipe (123). The housing has an internal space to which outdoor air can freely access. The cooling water spraying pipe sprays cooling water used in a cooling device to the internal space of the housing so that the cooling water can contact with the outdoor air. The water tank collects the cooling water cooled by the outdoor air. The cooling water drain pipe is connected to the water tank to drain the cooling water collected in the water tank to the outside. The water turbine is installed under a drain port of the cooing water drain pipe and is rotated by the cooling water drained from the cooling water drain pipe. The generator generates electricity while being operated by the rotation force of the water turbine. |
