PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable proper adjustment of a thrust required for a pulley, by enabling accurate detection of a boundary between an active arc area and an idle arc area even in a state of splashing oils, in a pulley thrust adjusting technology of a V-belt type continuously variable transmission.SOLUTION: A pulley thrust adjusting device of a v-belt type continuously variable transmission includes a primary pulley 2, a secondary pulley 3 and a V belt 4 extended to both pulleys 2 and 3. The V belt 4 is constituted of a large number of elements 5 arranged in series and a holding belt 6 for holding the elements 5. The pulley thrust adjusting device includes means 10 arranged in an outer peripheral part of the pulley 2 and detecting a splatter state of the oil from a clearance between the elements 5, a means 21 for estimating a boundary position between an active arc area and an idle arc area from the detected oil splatter state, and a means 22 for adjusting pulley thrust of an object pulley out of the primary pulley 2 and the secondary pulley 3 based on the estimated boundary position. |
