The device (1) has a camshaft (5) that is adjusted relative to an angular position of a crankshaft (4) for changing the angular position. The camshaft and the crankshaft are operatively connected with a traction mechanism (6) by an endless traction unit (7). Two deflection wheels (19,20) cooperate with the respective portions (10,11) of the endless traction unit. The position of the deflecting wheels is adjusted by a unit (12) to change the length of the portions by same distance. The length changing unit has an adjustable position bearing unit (13,14).
