The present invention relates to a device for monitoring the temperature of an electrical energy accumulator (19) for a vehicle, and to a battery safety system (9, 11, 14, 24) with such a device and with a protection device (10) for protecting the energy accumulator (19). The device for temperature monitoring comprises a temperature measuring element (2, 15, 25) with a first contact element (3, 16, 28a, 28c, 28e, 28g) for producing a thermal contact with the energy accumulator and a second contact element (4, 17, 28b, 28d, 28f, 29a, 29b) for producing a thermal contact with an element (21) having a reference temperature. The temperature measuring element is designed such that, on the basis of a Seebeck effect, it generates a thermal voltage (Ut) which is dependent on a temperature difference between the first and second contact elements. The device further comprises an evaluation unit (7) for evaluating the thermal voltage (Ut), wherein the evaluation unit (7) is designed to obtain an energy necessary for operating the evaluation unit from the thermal voltage (Ut) provided by the temperature measuring element. |
