The system has a camera (1) and an image processing unit (2) for detecting a glare light source e.g. headlight (10) of an oncoming vehicle. A display device (4) e.g. LCD, and an imaging optics (5) project an image in a field of view (40) of a driver. An image calculation unit (3) is coupled with the camera, the processing unit, the display device and the optics. The image calculation unit produces image information for the display device and the optics by detection of the glare light source such that an environment luminance is increased in the field of view of the driver.
