SAPPHIRE SINGLE CRYSTAL AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A sapphire single crystal and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve productivity by using a molybdenum crucible. CONSTITUTION: A sapphire seed crystal is immersed in alumina melt (21). The sapphire seed crystal is rotated and is upwardly pulled. A sapphire single crystal (20) is grown on the lower part of the seed crystal in a c-axis. The lateral side of the grown part of the sapphire single crystal is formed with a V shape in the alumina melt. The pulling speed of the sapphire seed crystal is between 0.5 and 10mm/hr.
