PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear fuel container which can prevent the damage of fuel assemblies therein when being dropped and allows the fuel assemblies to be easily taken out therefrom.SOLUTION: A plurality of used fuel assemblies preserved in a fuel storage pool are stored in respective storage areas demarcated by a grid-like basket within a container body of the nuclear fuel container. A shock absorption device 5 is put on these used fuel assemblies, and the container body is sealed up by a cover member. The shock absorption device 5 includes a plurality of U-shaped shock absorbing members 7 having connection parts 6A and 6B and tabular side wall parts. Both end parts of each of the shock absorbing members 7 are connected to the connection parts 6A and 6B, and a bending part 16 having a curved surface is formed in a lower end part of the shock absorbing member 7. The bending part 16 faces, in the container body, an upper surface of an upper tie plate of the used fuel assemblies. If the nuclear fuel container is dropped face-down, the shock absorbing members 7 are deformed in a thickness direction of the side wall parts to absorb an impact force. |
