A reception circuit uses multiple lanes to receive data. When a malfunction occurs with one of the multiple lanes, an overall lane control unit (505) deactivates a prescribed number of lanes including the lane for which a malfunction has occurred. Then, an operation continuation lane control unit (504) uses the lanes which remain after the prescribed number of lanes has been excluded to receive data by means of the reception circuit. A deactivated lane control unit (503) performs retraining to establish links in the prescribed number of lanes. When links have been established by the retraining by means of the deactivated control unit (503), the overall lane control unit (505) uses both the prescribed number of lanes and the remaining lanes to receive data by means of the reception circuit.
