PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of establishing speed change stages of nine forward stages or more without increasing a friction loss.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission includes first to fourth planetary gear mechanisms PGS1-PGS4, first to fifth brakes B1-B5, and first and second clutches C1 and C2. A first element Sa is connected to an input shaft 2, a tenth element Rd is connected to an output member 3, a second element Ca is connected to a sixth element Rb, a third element Ra is connected to an eighth element Cc, a fifth element Cb is connected to an eleventh element Cd, and a seventh element Rc is connected to a twelfth element Sd. The first to fifth brakes B1-B5 freely fix a fourth element Sb, a ninth element Sc, a second connection body Ra-Cc, a third connection body Cb-Cd, and a first connection body Ca-Rb, to a transmission case 1, respectively. The first and second clutches C1 and C2 freely connect the first element Sa to the third connection body Cb-Cd, and the first connection body Ca-Rb to the fourth connection body Rc-Sd, respectively. |
