PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device such that a high pressure discharge lamp has a wide brightness adjustment range.SOLUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device includes a DC-DC converter portion 12, an AC conversion portion 13 connected to the DC-DC converter portion 12, a high pressure discharge lamp 14 which is connected to the AC conversion portion 13, a control circuit portion 15 which is connected to the DC-DC converter portion 12 and AC conversion portion 13, a voltage dividing circuit portion 16 which divides the output voltage of the DC-DC converter portion 12 and outputs a division voltage, an A-D converter 17 which performs A-D conversion on the division voltage, an arithmetic portion 18 which performs arithmetic processing on a signal after the A-D conversion, a D-A converter 19 which performs A-D conversion on the signal after the arithmetic operation by the arithmetic portion 18 to generate a control signal to be sent to the control circuit portion 15, and a mode control portion 20 which controls the voltage dividing circuit portion 16 and arithmetic portion 18, the high pressure discharge lamp 14 being made to illuminate with different brightness by selecting a voltage division value and an arithmetic expression as instructed by the mode control portion 20. |
