The beacon has a base (4) on which a telescopic mast (6) is deployed. An intrusion detection head (8) is mounted at an end of the mast. A set of support structures is provided for solar panels (10). The solar panels are mounted in a swiveling manner on the base on the ground, where the beacon is adapted to take a transport position and a usage position. The support structures are drawn up to form a protective cage for the beacon in the transport position. The support structures are folded back around the base so as to give off the mast and the head in the usage position. An independent claim is also included for a beacon monitoring network.
