PURPOSE: An apparatus for enlarging the adhesive coating range of a bookbinding machine is provided to enlarge the adhesive coating range about the discrete paper sheet of gathering prints, thereby increasing adhesive force between the discrete paper sheets. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for enlarging the adhesive coating range of a bookbinding machine comprises: a marginal plate (30) and a supporting plate (40) which are equipped to face each other at each lower part of compression plates (11,12) of a pressing tool (10) which compresses gathering prints (400) to be bound; an elastic plate (50) which respectively connects the marginal plate and supporting plate to the compression plate; one or more hand plates(60) and gripping plates (70) which co-rotate with a rotary shaft by contacting the lower ends of the hand plates and gripping plates with the external surface of the marginal plate and supporting plate and fixing upper portions to rotary shafts (81, 82) of the lower end of the external surface of the compression plate; and rotation apparatuses (80, 80') which independently rotate each rotary shaft of the gripping plates and hand plates.
