PURPOSE: A weft sensing device for an air jet loom is provided to reduce the cost of residual threads and the cost of manufacturing a fabric with the slim head of the weft sensing device having a thickness of 1.0 to 2.2 mm. CONSTITUTION: A weft sensing device for an air jet loom (20) comprises a body (21); a head (19) installed on the other side of the body to protrude upward; a detection part (33) formed in the shape of an air tunnel on the top of the head; and a transmitting-and-receiving device for infrared rays (34). The weft sensing device for an air jet loom comprises a connection groove (22) formed on the other side of the body (21) and an opening part (23) formed in the lengthwise direction of the connection groove.
