PURPOSE: A SCR welding machine using optical communications is provided to improve a weld bead quality by applying the optical communications. CONSTITUTION: A SCR welding machine using optical communications comprises a welding machine body (110), a wire feeder (130), and a welding torch (140). The welding machine body and wire feeder respectively comprise a signal controller and signal receiving unit, and connect the signal controller to the signal receiving unit by optical cables. The welding machine body comprises a phase detection unit, a microprocessor, and an interface. The phase detection unit detects a phase of SCR. The microprocessor outputs control signals which control the phase of the SCR. The interface controls a wire slow down speed and initial current, voltage and arc start time. The interface controls the time of short-cut to adjust the size of a weld sphere formed at the end of a wire.
