RADIOACTIVE DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM AND RADIOACTIVE DECONTAMINATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive decontamination system and a radioactive decontamination method capable of removing or reducing radioactive contamination in a broad natural domain and controlling the radioactive contamination in a downstream area.SOLUTION: A radioactive decontamination system to remove or reduce radioactive contamination in a natural environment comprises: a damming pond 1 which is constructed at a place where radioactivity is likely to be accumulated and provided with a sediment layer 13; a damming wall 2 which is constructed at a place where rainwater is likely to flow; a side ditch 3 constructed along a road 3a as well as the damming wall 2; a water channel 4 to collect contaminated water flowing into the side ditch 3; and a contaminated water decontamination device 5 connected to the water channel 4. The contaminated water flowing into the side ditch 3 is decontaminated with the contamination water decontamination device 5 and radioactive substances absorbed into the sediment layer 13 of the damming pond 1 are recovered by replacing the sediment layer 13.
