PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramic composition that shows good characteristics under high electric field intensity and enables reduction firing, and an electronic component that has a dielectric layer to which the dielectric ceramic composition is applied and has an internal electrode essentially comprising a base metal.SOLUTION: This dielectric ceramic composition includes a compound that is represented by general formula: {A(RE)}-BO(wherein A is at least one chosen from Ba, Ca, Sr and Mg; B is Nb and/or Ta; RE is at least one chosen from Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; and x and y satisfy the relations: 0<x<1 and y<1.000, respectively) and has a tungsten bronze structure. Preferably, the dielectric ceramic composition further has an oxide of at least one chosen from V, Mo, Fe, W, Mn and Cr. |
