PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the timing of cleaning a discharging part for discharging ink, according to the amount of ink discharged, and an estimated amount of ink to be discharged until image formation is completed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a receiving unit for receiving a print job, nozzles 141 for discharging ink on a paper sheet S on the basis of an instruction for image formation, maintenance units 200 for cleaning the nozzles 141, a recognition means for recognizing the number of discharges performed by the nozzle 141 in the middle of the print job, and a calculating means for calculating a scheduled number of discharges corresponding to the estimated ink amount to be discharged from the nozzle 141 in the print job. It is determined whether the nozzle 141 is cleaned by the maintenance unit 200 in the middle of the print job or the print job is continued and the nozzle 141 is cleaned by the maintenance unit 200 after the print job is completed on the basis of the number of discharges and the scheduled number of discharges. |
