PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which can provide excellent stereoscopic effect in live view display successively showing a photographed image.SOLUTION: The image pickup device includes: an image sensor consisting of two-dimensionally arranged unit pixels, each unit pixel being composed of a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts and microlenses disposed directly above the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts; an image processing unit which generates a stereoscopic image on the basis of signals from the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts; a photoelectric conversion part selection unit which selects a photoelectric conversion part which reads out signals, from among the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts; and a photographing mode setting unit which sets a photographing mode. The photoelectric conversion part selection unit selects one set of photoelectric conversion parts located on the outside from among the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts during a live view display mode.
