摘要 <p>Provided is a display device compatible with RGBY, RGBW, and other multiple primary color displays, wherein a desired luminance ratio of primary colors to white can be obtained. The display device comprises: a display panel that displays images using pixels that include sub-pixels composed of 4 or more primary colors; and a signal adjustment portion (3) that adjusts image signals composed of luminance signals and color difference signals, such that the luminance ratio of primary colors to white when displaying images on the display panel approaches a value that is determined in a predetermined image signal format. The signal adjustment portion (3) comprises: a luminance gamma adjustment portion (33) that adjusts the gamma of luminance signals and reduces luminance levels; a color gain adjustment portion (34) that increases the color gain of color difference signals, for image signals for which the luminance levels of luminance signals has been reduced; and a CMS portion (35) that adjusts the gain for each color component of color difference signals such that the luminance ratio of primary colors to white becomes closer to a value that is determined in a predetermined image signal format for image signals in which the color difference signal color gain has been increased.</p>
