The method involves stripping an optical fiber end of an optical fiber assembly (1) with another optical fiber end of another optical fiber assembly (2) to discover cores (3) the optical fiber ends. One of the cores is placed in front of another core. The cores are welded simultaneously in front of one another by aligning each of optical fibers of the former assembly with optical fibers of the latter assembly, where the alignment of the fibers is obtained using a comb. A stripped and welded zone is covered with a single sheath (4) i.e. splices protection sheath.
