Provided is a microparticle detection system that, while preventing backflow of a gas to be measured into a gas jetting source, can extend the life of a compressor that supplies compressed air to the gas jetting source. The microparticle detection system (1), which detects the amount of microparticles (s) in a gas to be measured (EG) flowing within a ventilation pipe (EP), is provided with: a detection unit (10); a compressed air source (300) containing a compressor (301) that generates compressed air (AK); a compressor drive circuit (320); and a control means (100) that controls same. The detection unit (10) has a gas jetting source (11) that jets compressed air (AK) through a jetting hole (31N). From among the driving conditions of the compressor (301) by the compressor drive circuit (320), the driving conditions for jetting a first flow rate (Q1) of air (AR) from the jetting hole (31N) are caused to be first driving conditions (JK1), the driving conditions for jetting a second flow rate (Q2) that is less than the first flow rate (Q1) of air (AR) are caused to be second driving conditions (JK2), and the control means (100) has: a first instruction means (S5) that causes driving at the first drive conditions (JK1) when detecting the amount of microparticles (s); and a second instruction means (S6) that causes driving at the second drive conditions (JK2) when not detecting. |
