The method involves transferring drive torque to driven wheels of a motor car by an internal combustion engine (28) over an automated clutch (22). A required driving moment is computed, and a clutch moment (70) is computed in dependence of the computed driving moment and a motor moment. The clutch is actuated under consideration of the computed clutch moment. A starting moment to be required is computed by the required driving moment during starting process. Outer conditions are consulted for computing the driving moment and determined by sensors. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for performing a method for operating an internal combustion engine in a motor car.
