PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching regulator that detects a load current therein and sets an optimum size (on resistance) of an output transistor on the basis of the value of the load current.SOLUTION: The switching regulator includes: a pulse width modulation circuit 2 for outputting a pulse input signal 103 for generating a desired output voltage Vo; a control circuit 3 for generating a pulse output signal 104 from an input signal 100 on the basis of the pulse input signal 103; and a smoothing circuit 4 for smoothing a voltage of the pulse output signal 104 to output the desired output voltage Vo. The control circuit 3 includes: an output transistor section 30 having a plurality of inverters for generating the pulse output signal 104 from the input signal 100 by a switching operation; and a switching control section 40 for driving an inverter group including at least one of the plurality of inverters so as to generate the pulse output signal 104 by the switching operation on the basis of the pulse input signal 103. |
