PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct alcohol type fuel cell with a long life by preventing deterioration and breakage of an electrolyte membrane at an electrode outer periphery accompanied with continuous power generation.SOLUTION: A direct alcohol type fuel cell comprises: a pair of anode and cathod provided on both faces of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane; a non-ion conductive frame body provided on a surface of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and covering peripheries of the anode and the cathode; and a conductive plate opposed to the anode and the cathode and having a reaction gas passage. The anode, the cathode and the frame body are arranged to have a first region, in which an end of the cathode is positioned on an outer side than an inner peripheral edge of the frame body provided on the anode side, and a second region, in which the end of the cathode and the end of the anode are at the same position or the end of the cathode is positioned on an inner side than the end of the anode. The end of the cathode adjacent to a manifold for supplying fuel provided on the solid polymer membrane and the conductive plate serves as the first region. |
