PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device registration system and a portable device registration method which ensure high security after shipping.SOLUTION: The portable device registration system shares an encryption key with a vehicle 1, and registers an electronic key 2 required for encryption communication using the encryption key in the immobilizer ECU 6 of the vehicle 1. The immobilizer ECU 6 generates an encryption key from an SEED code included in an ID code signal transmitted from the electronic key 2 by using a key generation logic, and registers the encryption key. In response to a command from a registration/delete tool 8, the immobilizer ECU 6 transmits a delete request signal for requesting delete of the SEED code to the electronic key 2. Upon receiving the delete request signal, the electronic key 2 deletes the SEED code stored in itself.
