PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting an offset amount, to reduce the effect of a side force in an offset crank engine.SOLUTION: A method includes: a side force calculation step S1 of determining a side force Fs acting on a bulkhead from a cross head for each offset amount L, using the offset amount L as a parameter; a total side force calculation step S2 of determining an in-phase total side force Fsf and an antiphase total side force Fsr; a maximum value evaluation step S3 of evaluating maximum values of absolute values of the in-phase total side force Fsf and the antiphase total side force Fsr in one cycle; and an offset amount determination step S4 of comparing the maximum values of the absolute values of the in-phase total side force Fsf and the antiphase total side force Fsr which are determined in the maximum value evaluation step S3 to determine the offset amount L, using the offset value L as a parameter. |
