PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop detection method and a loop detection device that can identify a loop occurrence path with a little influence on normal communication by a frame for loop detection.SOLUTION: A loop detection method according to an embodiment is a loop detection method for detecting a loop by which a signal goes around a ring-shaped path in a network in which the path of a signal is configured in a ring by a transfer device and a transmission path. The loop detection method is characterized by transmitting a loop detection signal which goes around the ring-shaped path to the ring-shaped path, and determining that a loop has occurred when the loop detection signal went around.
